Rochelle Josiah

With an impressive business background spanning diverse industries from publishing to telecommunications, Rochelle’s wide berth of knowledge and experience see her in great demand as a Director of Companies, speaker at international conferences and trusted advisor to philanthropic causes.

Rochelle is the Founder and Chairman of Rhona Group, a highly successful company that operates in seven market sectors including Telecoms, Education, Information Communication Technology, Media, Property, Business Process Sourcing and Financial Services.

After spending several years in the international business arenas of Taiwan, Thailand, Korea and the United States; Rochelle returned to South Africa in 1997 to join Times Media Limited.  It wasn’t long before she was appointed to the role of COO of Financial Times in South Africa and made her mark as an exceptional leader with immense knowledge and skill.

In 2007, Rochelle was appointed to the board of BDFM Publishers, a joint venture between the Pearson Overseas Holdings Limited and Avusa, where she represented Pearson. As an active member on the Pearson’s Operating Companies Management Team in South Africa, she was responsible for overseeing Pearson Education, Maskew Miller Longman, Heinemann Books, CTI Group, Penguin Books, BDFM Publishers and the Financial Times.

Rochelle is well known for her passion for philanthropy, with a specific focus on youth empowerment.  Her commitment to this charitable cause led her to become a Trustee of the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment.  In 2016, Rochelle was appointed as Chairman of the Trust, a role that requires her to meet and liaise with Presidents and senior Government officials throughout Africa.

More recently, Rochelle was chosen to join The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as an International Fellow representing Southern and East Africa regions. An accolade of this stature is only served on very few deserving individuals and highlights the exceptional character and value that Rochelle offers as a leader to both the business community and charitable organisations.

Testament to her character, Rochelle believes that the success of a person cannot be gauged by wealth, prosperity or economic standing, but rather from passion, courage, and compassion.

In the words of Maya Angelou, “Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.”
